5/11/24 @ 7:30pm - The NowBeat Concert

Jonah’s new piece for piano trio will be premiered by Juilliard students at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music’s Benzaquen Hall in New York City, NY. This concert will also feature works by Noah Godard, Joey O’Neill, Jack Kaiser, Rowan Lemaster, Liam Cummins, Luca Pasquini, and the recipient of The NowBeat Commission, Zachary Jarvis. 5/20/24 @ 7:00pm - New York Youth Symphony Composition Date

Jonah will conduct the world premiere of Sophia Dou’s THE ALCHEMIST with the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Orchestra. This event will take place at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY; tickets will be available soon.


6/9/24-6/28/24 - Yellow Barn Young Artists Program

In June, Jonah will return to Yellow Barn’s Young Artists Program (YAP), through which he will have the opportunity to study with Stephen Coxe, learn from distinguished guest artists such as Steven Mackey and Wang Jie, and write two pieces for the outstanding YAP musicians.


7/14/24-7/28/24 - Wintergreen Music LEAD Cooperative Conducting Program

In July, Jonah will participate in Wintergreen Music’s LEAD Cooperative Conducting Program, where he will study with Artistic Director Erin Freeman and Master Teacher Miguel Harth-Bedoya, participate in several masterclasses and workshop sessions, and lead public performances with the Wintergreen Festival Artists.


8/17/24-8/25/24 - Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival Young Composers Seminar

In August, Jonah will participate in the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival’s (LCCMF) Young Composers Seminar, through which he will work with Resident Composer David Serkin Ludwig and write a new work for the incredible Festival Artists.


Fall 2024 - Tribeca New Music 2024 Festival

As the First Prize winning score in the 2024 Tribeca New Music Young Composer Competition, Division 2, Jonah’s piece for piano quartet, titled THAT SPECIAL PLACE, will be performed (venue TBA) in New York City, NY. More information to come!

3/24/24 @ 6:00pm CST - Robert Avalon International Competition for Composers Finalists Concert

As the First Prize winner in the 2020-2021 Robert Avalon International Competition for Composers, High School Division, Jonah’s piece for low brass trio, titled “the ground develops a taste for it”, will be performed in the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston (MATCH) in Houston, TX. Jonah will participate in the 2023 Chamber Music with Piano Summer Camp at Madonna, where he will have the opportunity to attend group lessons, masterclasses, and perform the Beethoven Violin Sonata No. 8 in G major (as a pianist).

As a participant in Salastina’s Sounds Promising Young Composers Program, Jonah’s new piece for piano quartet will be recorded by Maia Jasper White, violin, Meredith Crawford, viola, Yoshika Masuda, cello, and HyeJin Kim, piano at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music in Pasadena, CA.

This summer, Jonah will attend Yellow Barn’s Young Artists Program (YAP) in Putney, VT! Through this program, Jonah will have the opportunity to study with Stephen Coxe, learn from distinguished guest artists such as Eric Nathan and Ana Sokolovic, and write two pieces for outstanding YAP musicians.

This performance will feature the premiere of Jonah’s new composed theatre piece, titled HOOD, that was created as part of Amy Beth Kirsten’s Theatre Etudes class. The performers will be Hannah Ishizaki and Ricardo Ferro. This event will take place in the Harris/Woolfson Orchestral Studio at The Juilliard School in New York City, NY; tickets are required but the performance is free.

4/2/23 @ 12:00pm - 2022 National Young Composers Challenge Composium

As a winner in the 2022 National Young Composers Challenge, Jonah’s ROMP will be performed and recorded by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra (cond. Christopher Wilkins) as part of the NYCC Composium at Steinmetz Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, FL. This event will also feature the performances of the works of the other five winning composers. The Composium is free and open to the public!


3/25/23 - Young Composer Competition of The Community Music School of Webster University Events

As the 1st Place Winner in Level II (age 17-21) of the 2022-23 Webster University CMS Young Composers Competition, Jonah will participate in workshops and masterclasses with Nina Shekhar and David Werfelmann, and his LEAPS AND BOUNDS for piano quintet will be rehearsed by members of Chamber Project St. Louis in preparation for an upcoming recording.


9/25/22 @ 7:30pm - Western Illinois University Guest Ensemble Recital: Newphonia

At their Guest Ensemble Recital at Western Illinois University, Newphonia will perform Jonah’s THE POET for the third time! This event will take place at COFAC Recital Hall the campus of Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, and is free and open to the public! It will also be livestreamed on the WIU School of Music’s YouTube and Facebook pages.


7/3/22-8/13/22 - Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Composition Program

This summer, Jonah will attend the 2022 Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artists Composition Program in Lenox, MA! During this program, Jonah will have the opportunity to work closely with Martin Amlin and Justin Casinghino, learn from distinguished guest artists, and write music for the excellent young performers at BUTI.

Jonah will participate in the 2021 Chamber Music with Piano Summer Camp at Madonna this August, where he will have the opportunity to attend group lessons, masterclasses, and perform Anton Arensky’s Piano Trio, Op. 32 in D minor (as a pianist).


6/28/21-8/8/21 - Atlantic Music Festival Pre-College Composition Program

Jonah will participate 2021 Atlantic Music Festival (AMF) Composition Program (Pre-College Division), which will take place in Waterville, Maine on the campus of Colby College from June-August 2021! As a part of AMF, Jonah will create new works to be read, recorded, and/or performed by groups such as the AMF Contemporary Ensemble and the AMF Orchestra, participate in the Screen Scoring Intensive, take advantage of the Motion Sensor Program and Future Music Lab, and participate in lessons and seminars with the world-renowned artist-faculty. The AMF Composition Program artist-faculty members include Robert Beaser, Martin Bresnick, Sergi Casanelles, Christopher Dobrian, Reiko Fueting, Pierre Jalbert, Mari Kimura, David Ludwig, Frank Ticheli, George Tsontakis, and Zhou Long. This should be an unbelievable experience!


7/29/21 @ l:00pm - Reading Session with the Atlantic Music Festival Orchestra

Jonah’s new piece for orchestra, VIS VIVA, will be read by the Atlantic Music Festival Orchestra on July 29th at Lorimer Chapel on the campus of Colby College!


7/17/21 @ 3:00pm - New Music @ AMF

One of Jonah’s new compositions, titled 687 and scored for Pierrot ensemble (flute, clarinet in Bb, violin, cello, piano, and percussion), will receive its world premiere on July 17, 2021 at New Music @ AMF as a part of the 2021 Atlantic Music Festival! 687 will be performed by Robert Cart, flute, Simon Bakos, clarinet, Liya Ma, violin, Alan Hlozek, cello, Francesca Hurst, piano, and Alexander Garde, percussion (members of the AMF Contemporary Ensemble). This event will take place at Lorimer Chapel on the campus of Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and will unfortunately not be accessible to the public.


6/2/21 @ 7:00pm - Tuesday Musicale of Detroit Student League Competition Prizewinners Recital

As a Honorable Mention recipient in the 2021 Tuesday Musicale of Detroit Student League Competition, Jonah will perform the first and second movements of Camille Saint-Saens’ Cello Concerto in A minor, Op.33, with pianist Mary Siciliano (who is also one of Jonah’s piano teachers!) at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Commerce Township, MI. This recital will not be livestreamed, but it will be video-recorded and then shared on YouTube - more information TBA about this recording!


5/27/21 @ 8:00pm - Interlochen Arts Academy Mixed Ensembles Concert

5/26/21 @ 7:00pm - Interlochen Arts Academy Music Composition Recital

The first and third movements of Jonah’s new composition for clarinet in Bb, violin, cello, and piano, titled PRIMORDIAL VOICES, will receive its world premiere on May 26, 2021 at the Interlochen Arts Academy Music Composition Recital, which will take place on the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts (not open to public)! PRIMORDIAL VOICES will be performed by Jackie Groves, clarinet, Valerie Xu-Friedman, violin, Andrew Siehr, cello, and Chip Miller, piano. As the 1st Place winner for the Class IV Michigan NFMC Junior Composers Contest, Jonah’s STAGGER for solo marimba will be featured in a virtual winners concert on April 17. More details TBA.


3/19/21 @ 7:30pm - Interlochen Arts Academy Composers Forum

Although this event does not include a performance of Jonah’s music, he will perform as a cellist in multiple pieces written by fellow Interlochen Arts Academy composers (both of which will be world premieres). In early January 2021, Jonah will have the opportunity to participate in the inaugural fully-online Sewanee WinterFest Composition Intensive, where he will work with faculty members Jorge Variego, Anthony R. Green, inti figgis-vizueta, Vincent Oppido, and guest Chaya Czernowin as well as fellow young composers!

10/31/20 @ 2pm - Interlochen Arts Academy Composers Forum

Jonah’s new composition for french horn, euphonium, and tuba, titled “the ground develops a taste for it”, will receive its world premiere on October 31st, 2020 at the first Interlochen Arts Academy Composers Forum of the 2020-21 season! This piece is wholly inspired by Hafizah Geter’s “Testimony” for Michael Brown, and is quite unique from anything the composer has written in the past. “the ground develops a taste for it” will be performed by three Interlochen Arts Academy students: Andrew Burhans, horn, Julia Reiss, euphonium, and Claudia Shassberger. As a part of the Curtis Young Artist Summer Program (YASP), student composers each wrote a solo piece, which was workshopped and recorded by a YASP faculty member. This live broadcast will showcase all *56* solo works by the *56* young composers at YASP, including Jonah’s new solo marimba piece, STAGGER, which will be premiered by renowned percussionist Garrett Arney, one of the members of the internationally-acclaimed arx duo!! 7/11/20-8/1/20 - Curtis Young Artist Summer Program (YASP)

Since all events/programs at Brevard Music Center have been canceled due to COVID-19, this July, Jonah will participate in the first-ever fully online Curtis Young Artist Summer Program through the Curtis Institute of Music! As a part of the program, Jonah will write a solo piece to be workshopped and recorded by a YASP faculty member, participate in seminars and masterclasses with world-renowned composers, have the opportunity to study privately with some of the incredible YASP composition faculty, including David Serkin Ludwig and Jonathan Bailey Holland, and take part in Musical Studies classes and the all-program Choir. It’s going to be an amazing experience!
